What is the ethos behind Cheeky Rangas?
Orangutan translates to ‘person of the forest’ in Malay, highlighting their natural habitat’s importance to their survival. Orangutans are an endangered species, with less than 115 thousand of the great apes remaining in the world. This is due to humans hunting them for food, deforestation, habitat loss and the illegal pet trade.
Who created the project?
Co-founded by John ‘Jed’ Davis and Mahesh Silva, Cheeky Rangas aims to ensure the survival of these distinctive and beautiful animals through empowerment and action.

Using hand-drawn creative art and special effects, the Cheeky Rangas NFT team wants to unite a community of like-minded people who will become virtual activists. To do this, they have developed 9,700 Orangutan avatar character utility-enabled NFTs.
Each one, designed by Bill Wood, is individual and remarkable, with mind-blowing traits. Furthermore, the roadmap contains plans, random airdrops for super rare animated NFTs, and unique art series NFTs.

Firstly, 25% of all the mint proceeds and 75% of the ongoing royalty will go directly to relevant Wildlife and Wilderness projects and organizations. So far, the Cheeky Rangas team has plans to donate to The Orangutan Project and Crypto for Charity.
Then, every Ranga mint protects five acres of rainforest for two years. So that means each NFT you buy will directly help the survival of Orangutans.
